The 50th meeting of the Corporate Governance Committee, operating under the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and of which CMB Türkiye is a member in its capacity as the national coordination unit, was held in Paris, France, on 30–31 October 2025. During the meeting which the CMB Chairman, Mr. İbrahim Ömer Gönül has attended, discussions were held on a wide range of topics, including the key findings of the OECD Corporate Governance Factbook 2025, the peer review of capital market service providers, options for the 2026 corporate governance peer review, board responsibilities and sustainability reporting in the Asian region, equity markets for growth companies, the Revised Guidelines for Corporate Bond Issuers, and the use of artificial intelligence from a corporate governance perspective, as well as other ongoing activities of the Committee. In addition, on the margins of the meeting, a roundtable session on corporate sustainability practices was also organized.

OECD Corporate Governance Factbook 2025 and the first 13 Country Notes were launched in Santiago, Chile on 6 October 2025. The next 14 Country Notes, including Türkiye’s was released on 30 October 2025. During the Committee meeting in his comments referring to the key findings for the 2025 edition of the OECD Corporate Governance Factbook and the Country Notes, Chairman Gönül mentioned that Factbook 2025 shows significant progress in several areas of corporate governance, especially shareholder engagement, board independence and accountability, and sustainability disclosure. The effects of these developments on the corporate world will reinforce not only long-term value creation and resilience in the private sector but also investor confidence and financial stability in the markets.

Chairman Gönül, has also mentioned that it is also impressive to see how the Factbook continues to evolve with reference to this year’s innovation, namely the Country Notes. He has pointed out that as business and investment activities become increasingly international, investors, companies, and other stakeholders in Türkiye often need to understand how their national frameworks compare to foreign frameworks. The Country Notes provide valuable information that can help foreign investors and companies understand our framework and pursue investment opportunities in our country. They can also help our investors and companies explore opportunities to enter foreign markets.
