For the members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC), “COMCEC 3rd Capital Markets Regulators Forum” hosted by the Capital Markets Board of Turkey (CMB) is being held in Istanbul, Zorlu Center Raffles Hotel on November 11, 2014. This year’s annual meeting of the Forum takes place with the participation of competent authorities from Gambia, Iraq, Iran, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, Malaysia, Sudan and Turkey as well as representatives from World Bank Global Islamic Finance Development Center, Islamic Development Bank, the Union of Arap Securities Regulators, COMCEC Coordination Office, Central Registry Agency of Turkey and the Gulf Bond and Sukuk Association.

In line with the calls of the 25th and 26th sessions of COMCEC General Assembly, COMCEC Capital Markets Regulators Forum was established in the Conference for COMCEC Capital Markets Regulators and in the Roundtable Meeting held in Istanbul in 2011.
The Forum Secretariat and Chairmanship  is being conducted by the CMB since its establishment. The main aim of the Forum is to reinforce capabilities of capital market regulatory bodies in Islamic countries and to offer a platform for COMCEC Member State regulatory authorities to share opinions and ideas on possible cooperation grounds.

This year before the Forum’s annual meeting, in the morning session a conference titled “International Conference History, Theory and Practice of Islamic Economics and Finance: The Case of Turkey” is also held in cooperation between Borsa Istanbul and Marmara University. This conference has started with the opening speeches of CMB Chairman Dr. Vahdettin ERTAŞ, Borsa Istanbul CEO and Chairman Mr. İbrahim TURHAN and Mufti of Istanbul Mr. Rahmi YARAN.

Chairman ERTAŞ has made a presentation in the conference regarding the Turkish capital markets, recent developments on Islamic finance regulation, Istanbul Finance Centre Project and Turkey’s 2023 targets.
The conference will continue throughout the day with the presentations and contributions of domestic and foreign academicians.

The Forum’s annual meeting will start with the opening speeches of the CMB Chairman Dr. Vahdettin ERTAŞ and COMCEC Coordination Office, Director, Mr. Selçuk KOÇ.  During the Forum meeting, works carried out in the past year by the Task Forces on "Financial Literacy", "Islamic Finance", "Market Development" and "Capacity Building" will be discussed and the reports prepared will be addressed. Presentations summarizing the works performed in the mentioned subjects will be made by Forum Task Force Chairs and opportunities for cooperation among related capital markets regulators will also be discussed in the Forum meeting.   

The CMB wishes that the Conference and Forum will produce beneficial results for Turkey and the Muslim world.
